Oculoplastic Surgery
Oculoplasty, also known as ophthalmic plastic surgery, is surgery in relation to the eye and its surrounding structures. These surgeries are performed to improve function, comfort and appearance of the eyes in conditions such as:
- Tear drainage problems e.g Epiphora
- Eyelid malposition (Ectropion, Entropion)
- Problems of the orbit e.g bulging eyes
- Ptosis (drooping of the lid)
- Lid lacerations or defects
- Excessive eyelid skin/fat
Procedures commonly done include Probing and syringing for blocked tear ducts, Chalazion surgery (Incision and curettage), Excisional biopsy for lid masses, Repair of lid lacerations and defects, Ptosis surgery, Entropion and Ectropion surgery, Blepharoplasty for excessive lid skin/fats, etc.
